Why We Built Vision

Most people who hold private company equity can tell you how many shares they have. Far fewer can tell you what those shares are worth today, what it would cost to exercise them, or how that math changes if their company files in 18 months instead of six.

That is not a knowledge problem. The information exists. It is scattered across a grant agreement, a 409A valuation, a vesting schedule, the tax code, and a secondary market most shareholders cannot see. Assembling it at the moment, you actually have to decide something is the hard part, and it is the part nobody had built for.

So we built Vision.

The question behind every other question

Every conversation we have with a shareholder starts somewhere different and arrives in the same place: what can I actually do with this?

Should I exercise now or wait? Can I take cash off the table without selling my shares? What does this tender offer really mean for me? What happens if I leave before an exit? People are not asking for a primer on ISOs and AMT. They are asking about their grant, their company, and their timeline, and getting a useful answer has generally required a call with someone like us.

That works. It does not scale, and it puts a scheduling link between a person and a basic understanding of their own asset. Increasingly, people were skipping the call and asking a general AI tool instead, which would answer confidently without knowing a single thing about their actual position.

We already had the hard part

Liquid Stock has been advancing capital directly to employees, founders, and shareholders of the world’s leading private companies since 2018. We are not brokers, and we are not wealth managers. We fund from our own vehicles and take the equity risk, which means we have spent 8 years modeling these decisions with real capital behind them.

Exercise cost. AMT exposure. Holding periods. Company outlook. Timing against a liquidity event. What a share is plausibly worth now, not what it was worth at the last 409A. That intelligence already powered our team and our calculators. What it did not have was a way for someone to reach it on their own terms.

What Vision does

Vision by Liquid Stock is a guided planning experience for private company equity. You describe your situation in your own words, and it works from your actual numbers rather than filling gaps with generic assumptions.

From there, it lays out the paths in front of you side by side: exercising, taking liquidity without selling, a secondary sale, or waiting. Not a single recommendation, but a comparison you can see the math behind, because the point is to help you understand the decision rather than hand you a conclusion. Private company equity is one of the largest assets most people will ever hold and one of the least understood. That gap has never made much sense to us.
